How to Get Plants in Build a Base & Steal Plants: Roll or Steal?

There are two ways to get plants in Build a Base & Steal Plants — roll seeds for your own or break into rival bases and steal theirs. Here's how each route works.

You can get plants in Build a Base & Steal Plants both ways: rolling seeds for your own plants, or breaking into other players' bases and stealing theirs. Both routes are part of the game's core loop — roll for rare plants, build your base, and steal plants while protecting your own. Rolling is available from the moment you spawn; stealing targets plants other players already have, and rare plants are its main prize.

Rolling seeds for your own plants

Rolling exists from the start of a session. Hold the roll control, roll a seed, and it becomes a plant you keep. Every roll is a shot at a rare plant, and a lucky roll can give you a plant that keeps paying money while you're away — that payout is what a good roll can give, not a rate you're owed on every seed.

Whatever you roll needs a spot in your base, so it helps to know what you're hunting: see how to place plants for the placement side, browse the plant list for what's out there, and check the rare plants page for the top-tier targets worth rolling for.

Stealing plants from other players

Stealing takes plants that already belong to someone else in your server. You break into their base, run off with their plants, and keep only what you get away with. Rare plants are the main prize of a steal — which is exactly why owners fortify them, and why success depends on getting past the target's defenses, not just on reaching the plants.

The break-in sequence is covered step by step in how to break into bases. On the other side of it, how to protect plants keeps your own collection where you left it.

Which route when?

Both, because they feed each other. Rolling is your baseline: it's always available, no raiding required, and it stacks your base with plants. Stealing is the shortcut to plants someone else already grew — especially their rares — but it only pays off if you escape. Money ties the loop together: a lucky roll can leave you with a plant that earns while you're away, and extra cash after either activity funds your next roll. Working codes hand out free boosts that help you roll again — the codes page tracks what's live. If you're brand new, how to build a base walks through your first base.
